In 1967 Michael set up his second studio with an international artists community in Bussana Vecchia, an abandoned Italian village, becoming a director of Villaggio Internazionale Artisti. He subsequently bought his own property in Molini di Triora spending six months of every year here, over a 50 year period, being inspired by Italian life and creating a prolific body of abstract paintings and drawings, mixed media and ‘Objets Trouvés’ sculptures. He exhibited at a retrospective at the Associazione Culturale Gente Comune in Arma di Taggia in 2007, leaving Italy for the last time in 2017.
